#075 - Writer's Block: Knowledge is power

I'd like to know more about... well, everything. Especially things like IT and Ancient History. Biology too, as I'm a magpie with facts and science and stuff.
I have issues with a disorder of the psyche that causes me to have issues with staying on a subject, and I often bounce around fandoms and subjects like a spastic hyperactive rubber ball. For people who know me, this can be extremely exhausting and annoying, but this burning desire for knowing often leads to stimulating and vigorous conversations about many different subjects, so... If you have a question, fire away!

I don't think the government should have the right to censor the media, however, the media need to learn to recognise when they have taken things too far, and step back. This is really the reason why I will watch only the ABC news I live in Australia, as they take all care to try and report news with as little spin or bias as possible.
The censoring of the interwebz, on the other hand, should, I believe, be done by parents, on a house-by-house basis. Oh, I realise that the government reallllly does want to be our nanny, looking over our shoulder at any given moment, blocking what they think is bad, but I believe that the vast majority of people think that this is a crap idea.
Block porn? Imagine the uproar! Sure, some sites should be deleted FOREVAAAAARRRRRR, but that is because they are genuinely disgusting and scarring and terrible. The government needs to realise that people make their own lifestyle choices, and that they (the bureaucrats) can't change that.

I think it would be Etiquette 101. How to eat food politely and correctly, conversation starters, what to wear, what not to wear, that sort of thing. Also, I'd teach them how to dance things like the waltz, bush dances, maybe some Latin. After all, dancing is a fun pastime!
Also, Creative Writing 101. Or Non Fiction Writing 101. Or Journalism 101. Good writing skills are essential to surviving in this day and age, and can help to increase the probability of getting a good job. Also, literacy is good! READ MOAR, KIDS! :D

I LOOOOOOOVE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET./is a writer of it, therefore, obligatoire.
But no, seriously, I read more fanfics these day than I read actual books. CRY MOAR, BOOKWORM. I just don't have the time to read as heavily as I used to, and this annoys me. So, fanfic. Easily accessible, and sometimes, as well written, or more so, than some of the books I've read.

I cannot rewatch the Dark Crystal now. Loved it when I was younger, but... Now? Just, no. I can't make myself do it.
AS AN ASIDE: WTF is up with lj today? Nothing seems to be working.... D:
EDIT: Fixed up some spelling errors and formatting fail. Seems that lj isn't the only thing that's nonfunctional today....

My favourite sammich has non-plastic cheddar cheese, cooked minute steak, cooked onions, fresh butter, sour cream, shredded mesclun salad mix, and tomato sauce on fresh hot sour dough bread, toasted in a toastie maker. I'd then eat it with a malted vanilla milkshake, and a fresh, ripe mango. Ultimate summer lunch just there.

...most of my IRL friends have heard of LJ, and a few use comms like
capslock_bleach , but as far as I know, I am really the only one who dedicatedly posts stuff in my journal. I also post more of my recently written fanfiction and original fiction here, rather than using my FF.net account, which is pretty much dead now.
I lurk lots of places, and have a lot of varied tastes, including a lot of things that would quite possibly cause my friends to shun me in real life. My online friends are also a REALLLLLLY DIVERSE AND AWESOME bunch of people from alllllllll over the world. i think. i haven't been on here for long enough to really get to know them yet.
Anyway, I think that LJ is very different to IRL, and that's probably a good thing.

#015 - Writer's Block: Love songs

As far as I'm concerned, you really can't go past 'Reminiscing' by the Little River Band for the best love song ever. Air Supply isn't bad either, but LRB really do capture the essence of old-time love, and I love listening to it over and over. Sometimes, I even just waltz around the room to it, enjoying the ambience that it creates.
And, it also happens to be the song that I'd love to have played at my wedding.

Well, I'll probably spend the day doing homework, housework, and writing fiction of some description, so I won't be too lonely. Not to worry, I've nearly finished my massive pennace poast for not writing fic over the weekend, so that'll be up soon-ish... I hope! Lol, it could take a while. So, that's what I'll be doing. What are you guys doing?
